I sometimes wonder, "Can my dogs get any cuter?" Today they offered these poses and I felt like a small treat wasn't enough. They chose to lay like this... they see me setting the room up, watch me getting my camera ready and I turn around to see them getting into position. I do not do this often enough for me to think that they know the "drill". Raven, Hendrix and Drake are highly intelligent, enjoy working with me like this and I think they like my reaction when they see how happy I get when they offer behaviours/poses. These 3 have a lot of patience and they amaze me all the time.
My evenings are currently spent watching live videos from professionals in support of the National Breeder Convention 2024 by Pupstarts Breeders. Today's live video was incredible. Christa Lafayette from AlphadogsDNA spoke about DNA testing not just for colours and diseases but also temperament testing. It was truly mind-blowing. Behaviour can be modified through quality and consistent training but knowing what our dogs are prone to or have a tendency towards in behaviour is a gamechanger. I have already ordered 2 tests for Raven and Drake. They are both very different and I know them extremely well. I cannot wait to see their results and to see how they fit with how I know them. Something that I absolutely love is that AlphadogsDNA encourage people to provide feedback. If something in the results is very different or hard to understand, they welcome people to talk to them. Drake has helped to bring over 60 puppies into the world and the majority inherit his valuable easygoing, laidback nature. I am curious if this will show in his report.
In between my usual chores, I am preparing various things for the dogs for Christmas. I have personalised an advent calendar and bought lots of awesome things for it. I will be personalising their stockings this week. I know they don't understand what's going on but I enjoy getting them involved. Pepsi will be coming with us to the Northern Lights Trail at Temple Newsam. He takes everything in his stride and is truly well behaved and calm in new situations. I know without a doubt he can handle the music, various light shows, lots of people walking around and will settle whilst we sit down to eat. I will take a few bribes to provide him with something to do whilst we eat just because I think that would be fair to him 🙂
